Jio Will Offer Free Hotstar+Disney VIP Annual Subscription For 38 Crore Users

Though the telco had provided HotStar Premium subscriptions in the past as well, however, this will be the first time that Jio customers will be able to get the annual Disney+ Hotstart VIP subscription for a price of Rs 399 a year.

The subscription will enable users to access Disney+ content library, including shows, movies, and kids content alongside content exclusive to HotStar including cricket shows, Premium League, and Formula 1.

However, there’s a catch as the telco has not yet revealed whether the plan will be limited to specific plans, and neither it has provided any details about the launch date. As of now, the teaser banner only mentions “coming soon”. 

Last month, Airtel has launched the rs 401 prepaid plan with Disney+ Hotstar VIP  subscription for a year. The Airtel plan also includes 3GB high-speed data and carries a validity of 28 days. 

Jio appears to be taking the same approach as Airtel’s by providing similar subscription benefits to its users. 

Though Jio had provided Hotstar Premium subscription in the past, its Jio Fiber users only recently received the Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription through the JioTV+ service.

Reliance Jio has started teasing a bundle offer under which it will include a Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription for one year. The Mumbai-based operator had provided Hotstar Premium subscriptions in the past as well. However, this will be the first time that Jio customers will get the annual Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription for Rs. 399 a year.

 It will bring access to Disney+ shows, movies, and Kids content alongside exclusive Hotstar Specials and live sports including cricket, Premier League and Formula 1.

Gadgets 360 has reached out to Jio for clarity on the new offer and will update this space when the operator responds. The teaser banner was first reported by telecom-focussed  OnlyTech.

Airtel has a similar offer

Last month, Airtel rolled out the Rs 401 prepaid recharge plan which arrived with Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription for a year. The plan also provided users with 3GB high-speed data allocation and came with a validity of 28 days.

Jio looks to be countering Airtel by providing similar Disney+ Hotstar VIP benefits for their prepaid customers. The operator provided Hotstar Premium subscriptions in the past.

 The telecom major back in 2016, it had reportedly provided users with Hotstar Premium subscription to its subscribers using Jio Play. Jio Fiber users also got the Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription recently who used the JioTV+ service.

Reliance Jio has made a big announcement: Free Hotstar + Disney subscription for their 38 crore users.

However, the exact plan with which this offer will be rolled out it not clear yet.

Free Hotstar + Disney For Jio Users

Reliance Jio has put up a teaser on their website, wherein they have announced a new initiative: Jio prepaid and postpaid users can now get free subscription of Disney + Hotstar OTT platform.

As per the teaser, Jio has partnered with Disney + Hotstar VIP, and their users can get free annual subscription for the same. 

But the plans havent been mentioned.

Note here, that Jio TV already provides free access to Hotstar OTT, for all Jio Prime users. Even if they recharge for Rs 149, which their minimum pack for 1GB per day for 28 days, the users can access free Hotstar OTT access.

But what about Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription?

Will It Be Rs 399 Plan?

Disney + Hotstar VIP plan costs Rs 399/year, and this will be free for all Jio users, who recharge their mobile with an undisclosed plan.

We are assuming that this can be their Rs 399 monthly pack, for getting Rs 1.5 GB per day for 56 days. If this happens, then all Jio users who are recharging their mobile with Rs 399 and above can free Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription.

But why Rs 399?

Airtel has already launched their Rs 401 pre-paid pack, which provides free access to Hotstar + Disney VIP subscription for a year, along with 28 days validity and 3GB data.

So, to counter this, Jio can make Rs 399 as the minimum pack for availing free Hotstar + Disney VIP subscription for a year.

Or, Jio has also launch a new standalone plan for offering Hotstar + Disney VIP subscription for a year.
