The F4 5G will be available on Flipkart starting June 27, along with several other offers. These are our initial impressions of this phone.

Poco F4 5G Specifications & Review

It has been awhile since I reviewed a Poco phone. The Poco F45G is a much more advanced phone than the Poco F1 in 2018. The original phone was launched with the highest-end Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The F-series of Poco’s F series is now priced at the OnePlus range, which is a more expensive device on the market. The Poco F4 5G is still priced in the middle of the range (which we are putting at Rs 25k to 35k), but its specifications may not be the best. This does not mean that this device is cheap.

This phone is beautiful. The Nebula Green is a muted color, with the premium look of the back glass. The Poco branding is subtle. The front glass also has the ‘5G” written beside it. This is probably a reminder for users. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is used on the front glass to provide protection. The side frame is made of polycarbonate. I find the triple camera module reminding me of Redmi phones. This is not surprising considering that Xiaomi and Poco are all one family.

Problem is that the back of the phone is easily covered in smudges. This is especially problematic considering the device’s 6.67-inch screen. It’s actually a bit taller than my iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7 inch display. It has an AMOLED display and can be set to refresh at 120 Hz. For those who are curious, there is no headphone jack. Poco also cuts back on expandable storage. Maximum storage onboard is 256GB

Poco’s smartphone is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. My limited use of the phone has not been plagued by any issues. I also don’t think they will have any problems with this powerful chipset. Our full review will include more information.

Poco F4 5G Design

It’s not secret! Poco often comes with an “already known” design from Redmi smartphones. This Poco F4 is basically a rebranded Redmi K40s. We have seen this minimalist design with a matte glass finish on many phones. The double-staged module camera with triple-camera lenses offers fresh air in a slew of vertical and diagonal placements. It is lightweight at 195g, making it easy to use for long hours.

The design and camera of the Poco F4 5G are both promising. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset is an established and tested chip. This should ensure that the phone’s performance lives up to its claims. We will be reviewing the phone in detail once it has been put through more demanding tasks.

Display

Smooth viewing with the Poco F4 6.67 inch E4 AMOLED display has been a pleasure. It features a 120Hz refresh rate, and 360Hz touch sampling. Bright and sharp colours make for a rich viewing experience. With 1300nits peak brightness, the display can even bring out vivid colours in bright sunlight. To allow you to enjoy high-quality content from OTT platforms, it is certified with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

Poco F4 5G Performance

Poco F4 5G has the same processor as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip in iQOO Neo 6 5.G. The Poco F4 5G performs well, regardless of whether it’s about daily tasks like surfing the web, scrolling through social media or making calls, or heavy tasks such gaming. The phone was able to play for over an hour with high-end games like Asphalt 9 and COD: Mobile without any problems. Although the phone may get heated from heavy use, it doesn’t have any lasting effect on its performance.

Poco F4’s software experience was identical to any Redmi or Poco smartphone. It came pre-installed with apps and can be customized with a variety of wallpaper and themes. You can mute the notifications that are pre-installed, but they will still be annoying. Poco F4’s stereo sound output is one of its best features. It can produce clear, loud audio at maximum volume. Poco did not include the 3.5mm audio output jack, but music fans will be happy to know that Poco includes a USB Type C to 3.5mm converter in the box. It’s quite interesting to find such freebies, considering that many smartphone manufacturers have stopped offering the charging adapter.

Poco F4 5G Cameras

In the Poco F4 5G Specifications, The camera was tested briefly by me, and the images so far look stunning. The colours are vivid, at least on the AMOLED screen. Details and colours are also accurate in the photos. The camera will make most people happy. The night mode has not been fully tested so we will need to test it under low lighting conditions. Below are some examples.

Poco F4 will treat you with DSLR-like effects if you love to experiment with camera modes. It features a 64MP camera, OIS and a combination of an 8MP wide angle camera and a macro lens. The main camera takes stunning shots and maintains sharpness, detail, and balanced contrast throughout the frame. Although the colours may seem a bit more saturated, they will still look natural.

The camera comes with a 10x digital zoom. This zoom works fine up to 2x. The noise is evident in the photos after that. It is better to use your primary camera and crop the image accordingly. The wide-angle camera does a good job, but you might not see enough details.

Poco F4 is a great night photographer, capturing bright and colourful images. It still managed to capture decently lit photos in dark areas, and I’d say it did so without any noise. Portrait shots have a great bokeh effect, while selfies with the 20MP lens capture details. However, you might notice slight variations in skin tones. As I mentioned, Poco F4 has many effects and modes, including slow shutter, time freeze and long exposure. These modes can be used to create neon trails or move crowds. I found all modes to be of decent quality. You can record 4K videos using the rear camera and 1080p with the selfie cam for videography.

Poco F4 5G Battery

Heavy phone users, like me, will soon be able to adapt to the 5000mAh batteries of smartphones. The 4500mAh battery can only last for one day. The Poco F4 can last up to a whole day with regular tasks such as taking calls, listening and playing music, moderate social media use, and gaming for about an hour. Poco’s 67W fast charger can charge it from 0 to 100 percent in just 40 minutes. You can charge up to 50% of your battery in just 15 minutes. The charger is in the original box.

The 4500 mAh battery is what concerns the Poco F4 5G. For heavy-duty users, this might be a compromise. However, Poco offers a 67W fast charging cable here.

Verdict

The Poco F45G is a mid-range smartphone that offers a good overall experience and minimal complaints. The Poco F45G is a powerful smartphone that can handle gaming well. It also has the extras like a 120Hz AMOLED screen, decent camera performance, fast charging, and fast charging. 27,999. Before you buy Poco F4 5,G, be sure to consider the reliability issues associated with previous software experiences.

The Poco F4 5G is a formidable competitor to the iQOO Neo 6, which can charge at 80W. Oppo F21 Pro 5G is a great choice for a better experience in photography, with a good overall performance and slick design. The Poco F4 is the best choice for gamers and non-gamers.

Poco F4 5G expected price

The phone will be the successor to the Poco F3 GT, which is priced at Rs 28,999 going up to Rs 31,999. As per reports, the Poco F4 5G will also come with a similar price tag and will be under the Rs 30,000 bracket.
