Hosts Bangladesh will open the Women's Asia Cup 2022 against Thailand on October 1. India will also play Sri Lanka on the same day, while they will face arch-rivals Pakistan on October 7. This is the eighth season of Women's Asia Cup. The first Women's Asia Cup was held in Colombo and Kandy in Sri Lanka in 2004. The tournament was played regularly until 2018, but was postponed in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19. Now the new season of the tournament will be played in 2022. 

The tournament has seven teams in a round robin format. All teams will play 6-6 matches. After that, the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. Two semi-finals will be played between the four teams followed by the final on October 15. The Women's Asia Cup has been played in the T20 format since 2012. Earlier this tournament was played in one day format. In 2012, eight teams were divided into two groups and semi-finals, but in the previous two seasons there were fewer teams. The final clash was between the top two teams.
