Kutumb Sahay (Family Support) Scheme in Gujarat: The main breadwinner should be a member of the family, whose income forms a major part of the total family income. The bread maker must have died when he / she is over 18 years of age and under 60 years of age.



A woman from the family, who is a housewife, is also considered a 'breadwinner' under the scheme. The family of the deceased will qualify as a family living below the poverty line.


The main benefit of NFBS is its financial support for dependent beneficiaries. Although emotional damage or mental anguish cannot be replaced by anything, financial support can make life easier for the family of the deceased, especially those living below the poverty line. At the district level, the implementation of the scheme is entrusted to the Zilla Parishad or its equivalent. At the local level, the gram panchayat / municipality will implement the scheme.


National Family Assistance Scheme - Sankatmochan (NFBS):


(A) Eligibility Criteria:

1. Family should be in BPL list

2. Natural or accidental death of the main income earner of the family.

3. The deceased man or woman must be over 18 years of age and under 60 years

4. Submission of application within 2 years of death


(B) Profit: Rs. 20,000 / - to the family.

Talukmalatdars are authorized to approve or reject assistance under this scheme. An appeal can be given to the Prant Officer in 60 days in case the application is rejected.
